[…revealing it wasn’t full of coffee at all, but gravel[/i]. Deas drops like a polaxed steer as a shower of stone ricochets off the cage walls and bounces harmlessly outside…]
[Deas stands facing the cage and gets nailed with a charging axehandle bodyblock from behind by Scanlon. Deas turns kicking Scanlon to the midsection and executes a huge gutbuster. Deas kicks Scanlon to the head as he lays on the mat. Deas drops a fist then to the forehead of Scanlon. Deas rolls over and puts Scanlon in an arm grapevine submission.]
[Deas climbs the turn buckle and goes off the top and hits a flying dropkick on Scanlon. Deas is back on his feet" Deas is up again. Deas jumps off the turnbuckle with the flying bodypress on Scanlon. Deas goes for a spinebuster but Scanlon dodges the attack.]
[Scanlon brings Deas down with an armdrag takedown. Deas gets up and closes in with a running Big Boot. Scanlon charges in, turning at the last second, and shoving Deas, double-handed. Scanlon gets inside Deas’ reach, and tags him with a forearm, using his ‘carpal tunnel armband’ Scanlon continues but Deas closes for the attack, Scanlon charges in and past the attack]
[Deas rears back for a huge fist to Scanlon’s face, but Scanlon dips back,. Scanlon trips, in the process of “dipping” Deas’ punch, and falls backwards hitting a drop toehold in the process. Deas goes down, and Scanlon immediately closes for… a headlock.]
[Scanlon gets an expression like “I’ve got you NOW!”, and clinches the headlock in further, sprawling out so Deas can’t get his greater strength into play. The ref checks for a submission- Deas makes a sarcastic noise.]
[Deas is nowhere near a break, but the hold’s tiring him- not killing him- so it’s a stalemate. The crowd’s starting to get ugly. . Scanlon gets to his feet, yanks on one of Deas’ arms, and goes into a sort of kneeling hammerlock… that doesn’t make Deas tap, either.]
[The crowd starts booing, even louder as Scanlon yells back about not appreciating good wrestling. Deas, already frustrated by not being able to close the deal with his brawling skills, is now starting to look a bit embarrassed at being half of such a sucky match…Finally, mercifully, Scanlon lets Deas up. Deas rolls up to his knees, shaking life back into his dominant arm- the one Scanlon was working…]
[Scanlon kicks Deas to the mid section. Deas gets knocked on the ground and Scanlon fist drops Deas. Scanlon climbs to his feet as Deas gets up and seeing Scanlon distracted for a second by a crowd member hits a powerbomb. Scanlon has the wind knocked out of him as he lays on the mat. Deas rolls onto him and puts Scanlon in an arm grapevine submission. Scanlon powers up and sends Deas into the corner. Deas gets boot choked by Scanlon.]
[Deas reverses the hold and Scanlon against the turnbuckle and chokes him with his forearm. Deas releases the hold and kicks Scanlon in the gut, takes a few steps back, and scissor kicks him to the mat. Deas takes a few minutes to rest and then begins climbing the cage. Getting halfway up Deas looks back and climbs back down as Scanlon is nearly up again. Deas closes in on Scanlon with a running lariat. Almost at the point of impact, Scanlon hops up and cinches Deas, around the neck, with a reverse-backpack choke. The two bounce, half-speed, off the cage wall, but Scanlon’s keeps going…]
[Deas is game, but Scanlon’s dragging him down and closing off his bloodflow…The way the hold’s on makes punching ineffective and headbutts useless…Finally, as Deas’s starting to double over, he rallies enough to leap for the ropes and hit what amounts to a cross-body-block OF THE CAGE.]
[Scanlon with a head butt on Deas and Deas is down, facefirst, on the mat. Scanlon comes up, puts his boots on the back of Deas’ knees. Scanlon then tucks Deas’ feet around the front of his legs.]
[Scanlon, holds his arms out to the side like a surfer keeping his balance…The ‘balance pose’ ends, as “Big” Steve wobbles. He finally just lands, full-weight- with his boots inside Deas’ knees.]
[Deas, on the mat, clutching both knees, as Scanlon leans backward into a corner and catches his breath, looking to the ref for a ‘go ahead’ or not…The ref’s asking Deas if he wants to continue…Scanlon’s starting to eye the door… Dea’s tries to get up so Scanlon charges in with his “ ‘Low’ Thesz Press”- a full eight inches off the ground.]
[…which Deas counters with a thunderous Spinebuster! Which the crowd actually cheers. Deas, having dropped Scanlon, climbs the cage. When he gets to the top edge of the cage, he looks down, disgustedly, on the still-prone Scanlon. Deas then signals.]
[He dives, headfirst, off the top in with his patented swan dive head butt- but Scanlon rolls aside. Deas hits the mat, headfirst!]
[Scanlon is now standing, and picks up Deas, who using most of his energy upper cuts Scanlon. Scanlon, staggers back and realizes he is within a few feet of the cage door, Scanlon goes for the door. Deas, in a last-ditch effort, spears him THROUGH the door.]

[The crowd is, again, very unhappy. Scanlon raises his fists overhead like he won the World Title….]
Kenny Chisolm – I’m getting the decision now- Scanlon was the first through the door AND he touched the ground first. The referee has got it right “Scanlon wins.”
[As Scanlon is walking up the ramp “The Godfather” by Fantomas blares over the PA and out comes Antonino Romano with microphone in hand.]
Antonino Romano: Congratulations Steve, you beat Butters. Now I bet you are wondering what I am doing out here and I can tell it’s not to help you. You see Scanlon you have been running your mouth and causing trouble just like you always do and along with everyone else I am SICK OF IT!!!!
[Scanlon jumps back a bit from the sudden outburst of the GM]

He takes it all in for a few moments before making the long walk to the ring, ignoring the fans along the way while Wovenhand continues his serenade.]
[Phinehas climbs up onto the apron and slides in between the ropes. Hopping up onto a turnbuckle, he casts his gaze out over the crowd with his arms at his side, eyes shifting to take in the sea of faces spread out before him. Phinehas drops down and waits.]
